Clinical Context

Mantle cell lymphoma is a subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by aggressive behavior and poor prognosis. It affects approximately 5% to 10% of all non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases in the United States, with an estimated 4,000 new cases diagnosed annually. Current treatment options include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies, but many patients experience relapse or refractory disease after initial treatments. This approval of sonrotoclax addresses the need for effective therapies in patients who have already undergone multiple lines of treatment, including BTK inhibitors, which are often used as first-line therapies in MCL.
